Floral jumpsuits, Cocktails on the deck & Mountain views – #littleloves

This week has been filled with food, food and more food. We’re eating more healthily and cutting out carbs – I’m not the best cook and defo not creative so I’ve taken to reading loads of recipe books and following recipes for dinners this week. It seems to have worked so far! Anyhoo – on with my #littleloves for this week:

Read

For someone who loves to read I seem to fail miserably at this category every week. I spend all day reading online for work, so much so that my head is constantly spinning – yet I can never pick one thing that seems cool enough for this category.  I did however hop over to an old blog I used to read when I lived in Cape-Town – Kelly-Anne’s blog. Kelly-Anne started blogging as a child and is now around 18 years old, she runs a little online craft shop and makes the most beautiful things. She also bakes, sews, you name it – that girl can do it! She wrote a beautiful post on visiting her grandmother in the mountains and the scenery was just breathtaking. It made me miss home SO much! I wish I was brave enough to live somewhere this secluded.

Watched

I watched Shan get all stroppy playing pool with us in the pub. HA! We don’t go there too often (it’s the pub we used to own) but now and then we head down there for a visit and Shan insists on CHEATING us at pool. It’s fun to watch. Lol.

On Friday I headed out with 20 girls to celebrate some birthdays. It was a fab night and I stepped outside my comfort zone and wore this floral jumpsuit from New Look. Yip – NO black here guys, miracle. It was so comfy and a size smaller than usual so I was over the moon. I forgot to take a full selfie shot so this is the best I could come up with in the car. Haha.

me

It looks like this on, I wore mine with flat gold sparkly sandals but you could absolutely dress it up with heels/wedges too.

Heard

My friend posted this song on Facebook and it’s STUCK in my brain all week – Thanks Kerri! It’s country / cheese fest / poppy and I love it! Whack it on full blast and dance around the living room. Go on.

Made

As I mentioned I’ve been trying to whip up some yummy healthy meals this week – my Instagram feed is literally filled with food.  This salad was from the Essentials magazine – butternut, sweet potato, pomegranate seeds, rocket and baby leaf salad, feta and a nutty yoghurt dressing. Seriously YUM.

And Lastly

Our pallet decking is coming on so well – we’ve been working our bums off to get it ready for the summer. I still can’t believe we did all this for FREE! Dave whipped up our benches this week, now to paint and decorate them with cushions and lights and all the pretty things… We’re so close to it being done – I can’t wait to lounge on it  in the sunshine with a cocktail!

Red Lippy Love, Little Dancer & Xenophobia – #LittleLoves

Shanah-Dance

I’ve been watching the last few minutes of Tay & Shan’s dance lessons the last couple of weeks.. I’m so super proud of how they are both doing in their dance routines. They dance with such passion and attitude and literally push themselves to the limit. Absolute Proud Mom Moment here.

Wore

I’ve lost  a little bit of weight recently so I’m having a serious I HATE EVERYTHING IN MY WARDROBE PHASE because nothing fits. So I thought I’d show you this super bright red lippy I received in my GlossyBox yesterday. THOSE.FISH.LIPS.

The gorgeous weather over the last couple of weeks has meant that our eating habits have been more geared towards summer… no more stodge, bring on the FRUITICLES!

Frozen black forest berries, yoghurt, a banana and a splash of milk whipped together = one gorgeous breakfast smoothie.

And Lastly

This isn’t a Little Love as such, but more about spreading a little love…. As some of you will know, I’m South African born and bred. The recent xenophobia attacks in Durban have really shook me up. I stupidly googled ‘News on Xenophobia’ and was redirected to the most gruesome, shocking video where they set a 12 year old boy on FIRE because he wasn’t from South-Africa. It’s disgusting, revolting and inhumane. 7 years ago when I lived in Cape-Town, there were xenophobia attacks on the locals.  A friend and I volunteered to help at the camp where the refugees were being held and what I saw there absolutely broke my heart.  My post ‘REFUGEES’ is still live on my old blog here. It’s worth a read. You will need a tissue 🙁

February-2015-Prima-cover-Ruth-Jones

Soooo… for the first time in ages I bought a magazine and actually sat down to read it! I absolutely love Ruth Jones so this cover sucked me in – how AMAZING does she look? She’s freaking hilarious too.

Watched

undateables

I can’t seem to find ANYTHING to watch?! I got bored of Celeb Big Brother after the first episode, I’m still watching my gorgeous Will.I.Am in The Voice on Saturdays, I missed the first season of Broadchurch and can’t find it on my catchup thing…. arrggghhh! First World Problems. SO I found 4 series of ‘The Undateables’ on catchup and have become a little bit addicted. There’s so much love in this program. I felt particularly sad for this dude and kind of wished I could just jump in the tv to give him a snog.

Dave and I escaped for a DATE! We went off to Bath to watch Taken 3 and have dinner at the Cosy Club. Deliciousness! I wore my new poncho from M & Co but forgot to take a pic and can’t find it online! It’s this style and colour but with more of an aztec print. I’ll snap it next time I wear it 🙂

Heard

The internet’s gone Cray-Cray with sharing this amazing Video of Maroon 5 gatecrashing a number of weddings in LA for their latest music video – ‘Sugar’ I could honestly watch this 100 times a day and tear up every time!

I’ve been cooking from a Parragon Superfood book this week and whipped up this amazing salad from the book, with a few added extra’s ! This is melon, red onion, avocado, seed mix, dried apricots and apple. OMG it was super delish.  Check the book out here: The Superfood Kitchen. I’ll have a video up early next week on it too!

And lastly..

I signed up to another Blog Conference! This time to Blog on Cymru in Cardiff in March. I haven’t been to one since Britmums Live 18 months ago and I stumbled across THIS old post from BlogCamp Bristol a couple of years ago. The baby in the stroller is one of the sweet stars of Along Came Cherry’s  blog – How tiny was she Jess? 🙂

This post on the Gondwana Game Reserve on the Garden Route in South Africa by Drizzle & Dip made me SUPER homesick. It’s my old stomping ground from when we ran our tour company and we actually used to take our guests quad biking on a neighbouring farm. If you watch the video on their website it really captures the true essence of Africa. Aaaaahhhh – too amazing!

Watched

My friend took me to see this production of Bad Girls at a local theatre on Thursday – it was AMAZING! One of the main characters was a teacher in our school, so we were shocked to the core when she started thrusting up against a police officer in one of the opening scenes – lol! She insists it’s all an act.. yeah yeah. 🙂

Wore

I’ve literally been living in these slippers I got at the Next outlet. #JeansAndSlippersSundays dudes.

Little Loves: Wore, Read, Watched, Loved!

Read

I haven’t read a book since the summer…. September is a crazy hectic month with the kids starting school, picking up more work and generally trying to get back into routine. However I read this fantastic article by Richard Branson on Why Virgin are letting their staff take as much Holiday as they want, when they want…. revolutionising the workplace here people!

Watched

Glue. Wow Wow Wow. This is an 8-part HECTIC drama series, which opens with the body of a teenage traveller, found dead underneath the wheels of a tractor – revealing the dirty secrets of Berkshire’s horse stables and farms. Think drugged up teenagers, nudity & a thrilling police investigation. It’s pretty hectic but a Must-Watch!

Wore

Ok I haven’t actually worn this YET. It’s an Apricot dress I bought in the Debenhams sale last week, I tried it on and it fit like a freaking glove. Super happy as I want to wear it on the posh night on the mini-cruise we’re going on next weekend. I just need to glam it up a little, JoJo Rugby Widow suggested a new belt, purse and shoes to match – God I love that woman. Pure genius, I’m CRAP with styling outfits!

Heard

I heard this by Nicki Minaj on my daughters playlist the other day. I don’t normally like old NicMin but this song has a nice melody to it and now I love it!

Made

Apart from ‘making’ a mess (man why am I so MESSY?!) I haven’t made much. BUT I’ve been hoop inspired on Pinterest and plan to make something from this board over the weekend.

And Lastly

I filmed the Secret Diary of a Youtuber Tag 🙂 check it out here!

Read

THIS post by the fabulous How To Be a Domestic Disgrace entitled “The Joys & Pitfalls of having an only child” – I’ll tease you with this conversation with her hubby and son – it’ll make you click over and read the rest for sure:
“Can you play He-Man with me, Daddy?”

“Not at the moment, dude.”
“But you said you’d play He-Man with me later, and now it’s later.”
“Yeah.  I’m just doing some work, though.  Go and do some colouring or something.”
“But I want to play He-Man.”
“Play it by yourself.”
“I can’t, because who would be Skeletor?  I can’t do the Skeletor laugh.  And I need Mummy to be Ram Man.”
“Mummy’s busy.  She doesn’t want to be Ram Man.”

“Well, she can be the annoying one, then.”

“Orco?”
“Yeah, him.”
“Mate, we’re too busy right now.”
“Sigh.” *wanders off*
“IT WOULD BE A SHAME IF I STUCK THIS SPIDERMAN STICKER UP MY BUM BECAUSE I’M BORED.”
“Er, what?”
“I might stick this Spiderman sticker up my bum.”
“Very funny.”
“Right up it.”
“Hilarious.”
“YOU WOULD NEVER FIND IT.”
“We probably wouldn’t.”
“I MIGHT HAVE TO GO TO THE DOCTORS.”
“For sticker removal?”
“Yep.  And he’d say ‘how did that sticker get there?’ and I’d say ‘because nobody wanted to play He-Man with me and I was sad’, and then he’d tell you off.”
“Very creative.”
“So, think on.”
Mate, I am not playing He-Man at the moment.”

“I’m removing my trousers…….”

“BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL.”

LOL! Love that girl……….

A few little things I’ve been loving over the last week….

Read

I’ve been online for work ALL week – my brain is spinning with the amount of words in my brain right now!
But during my ‘YouTube Timeout’ session I came across Joanna Soh’s blog and I’m inspired to do her 8 week Bikini Body workouts and meal plan – honestly, she has SO much information both written and in video form and it’s all FREE and so detailed. Go Joanna!

Watched

THIS video we made at our friends house after a bottle of wine last week. It’s silly and stupid but I love it and I know I’ll cherish it forever! Love you guys 🙂  Because it was made on Videostar I can’t seem to make it available on mobiles… so if you’re watching on a mobile you’ll have to hop over to my channel and watch it there!

Wore

I’ve been sick all week so haven’t really ventured out much apart from going to work… However I did wear this new dress I bought from New Look, it’s from the Apricot line and I LOVE it! It’s perfect for those of us with big boobs and/or tums! I wear mine with long brown leather-look boots and a cardigan. ALL of Apricot’s dresses are really flattering actually *stops self from clicking things into Apricot online basket*

Heard

I actually came across this song on VideoStar and I just LOVE it! It’s a bit mush but it’s SO feel good!

Made

Determined not to be beaten by the cakery world I followed a video tutorial to make an Easy Chocolate Cake for Niamh’s birthday… And it turned out just like a CAKE! I was so impressed with myself. It was totally Yummo. She is addicted to Nutella so I ditched icing it and smothered a whole jar of Nutella all over it. DELISH!

and lastly..

My ‘baby’ was 14 yesterday. FOURTEEN people! She is so awesome and I love her too much. Happy Birthday Sweetheart.

Some Things That I Love

A little list… I loves me some lists..

Something I read: The lovely Thrifty Mrs has been organising our lives with her amazing Blog Series entitled: “15 Days to an Organised New You!” Honestly… this chick is SHA-mazing… As it’s a New Year and all, I’m in Organisation Mode & following the posts religiously – click HERE for yesterday’s link to organising a Gift Wrap Station in your home. Simple Pimples.
Some thing I watched: Hmm… I haven’t been watching much TV this week… I have however been watching a few YouTube video’s and loved this one in particular by South African Youtuber (yay for my homies) Caspar Lee – he’s now living in London for a while, but has drawn his life thus far – I love the technology of this, it reminds me of a trendy, shmexy Rolf Harris. God I hope he never reads this.

Some thing I wore: CAKE. I wore CAKE. I have been shuving cake down this month like I’ve been told I can never eat Cake again.  I think it’s due to my ‘no-alcohol for January’ fundraiser. If I can’t drink Wine, I’m going to Eat Cake. If you’d like to find out more about my brother and I fundraising for Cancer Research this month – click HERE to do that. Come back though – there’s more juicy stuff to read here.

Banana Shmanana… oh yyeeaaahhh..

Some thing I listened to:

Coughing. There has been no musical jives in my house this week as we’re all down with the dreaded lurgy. AGAIN. So we have been bopping along to the rhythm of coughing. I know. We live on the edge here people.
Some thing I cannot live without:

Flu meds. I know, I’m a boring old fart this week aren’t I. But honestly, I totally GET how millions of people died from flu before we had all these fancy meds – it’s a disgusting, vile virus. Nearly on par with the dreaded puke bug.

Well on that note, HAPPY FRIDAY YA’LL!
*cough cough, splutter splutter splutter, cough, cough* (Flu version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I know – I’m cool Like Jagger)
