10 awesome things for Teen Girls under £10

Recently I’ve been half-heartedly shoving a lot of £10 notes into birthday cards as gifts for the girls friends.  We’re literally writing cards in the car and sticking a crumpled tenner inside the envelope on they way to birthday parties.  In fact, yesterday, Shanah wrote in the card –

‘Dear Becca, Happy Birthday, Sorry about my really bad handwriting but I’m writing this in a really bumpy car. Hope you have a good day, Love Shan xx’

Serious bad friend skills. That was the turning point.

I asked Tayla (13) to give me a list of her favourite brands and we whipped up 10 awesome things for Teen Girls all for under a tenner. Some of these would be great paired up if you wanted to splash a little more cash too.

teen edition 180815

1. Starbucks Watercolour Cold Cup – £ 9.95

Teens are obsessed with Starbucks.  Whether they’ve been there or not. We usually buy the cheapie version of these in Primark for around £3, but as a gift with a few milkshake / hot choc treats included, this could be the perfect teen gift.  The Cold Cup’s double wall construction helps keep beverages cold while eliminating condensation and it comes with a green reusable straw. Bonus.

2. ‘All by my Selfie’ Crop Top  – £ 6.99

My girls are all into the crop top phase.  This little beauty in ‘The BEST colour ever Mom!’ would make a fab prezzie with a box of choccies or a couple of bath bombs. Sorted.

3. Nail Wraps – £ 1.99

Great little addition to a couple of Barry M nail polishes! 20 feathers on a clear water transfer which can be applied over any colour varnish on either your natural or false nail.  Also, handmade in England – Thanks Etsy!

4.  Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin Curves Mascara – £ 6.99

Tayla is the Mascara Queen in this house and perfects every single lash, pumping it to it’s absolute max.  She loves this stuff and squeals when I buy it for her. Who am I kidding – I love it too. Big, curvy, rockin’ lashes… yes puh-lease!

5. Jack Wills Boldshaw speaker – £ 9.50

No wires, pocket egg-shaped speaker – designed to amplify sounds from your phone or iPod.  This is just plain fab – lots of cool factor around your mates with this one.  (My girls will cringe at reading my phrase ‘cool factor’ – I’m so not cool)

6. Lush Greased Lightning Spot Treatment – £ 6.40

Ok.. so I know this isn’t exactly a gift… but teenage girls dig ANYTHING from Lush.  It would probably best be given to your own daughter as opposed to one of her mates who may never speak to them again if they thought they were spotalicious.  Grease Lightning is a powerful combination of ingredients that will nip any breakouts in the bud without upsetting the skin around them, best used as a preventative of course 🙂

7. Bag of Happiness – £ 5

Being a teenager is tough sometimes. There’s lots of peer pressure and with girls… LOTS. OF. DRAMA.  Sometimes they all need a little pick-me-up and this little bag of happiness is just the thing at just a Fiver.  Such a sweeeet little gift, containing:

A plaster to heal you when you hurt, a love heart so you know someone loves you, string to hold it together in tough times, a rubber to erase those little mistakes you make, a diamond to bring a sparkle to your eye, a marble for when you start losing yours, a lucky bean so you always have luck on your side, a coin so you are never completely broke, a star to wish all your wishes upon, a paperclip so you are always organised, and a kiss for when you are feeling down.

Eeeeekkk! So much of CUTE!

8. YouTube Logo necklace – £ 4.00

This is one of my absolute favourites in this round-up.  Teens are YOUTUBE CRAY-CRAY man… they use it for everything and aspire to be like so many ‘cool’ YouTubers they watch. In my house, YouTube is a positive thing – we use it for chilling, learning about stuff, homework, all sorts. This necklace is awesome. AND it’s handmade in Britain. Thanks Etsy.

9. The Wet Brush Detangling Hair Brush, Pink * – £ 7.26

Move over Tangle Teezer… we have a LOT of hair in this house.  Thick, unruly, curly hair and this brush is the ONLY brush that glides through it effortlessly with no screaming or tears.  It’s changed our life. For reals.

10.  Happy Jackson Snack boxes – £ 9.95

When you’re a teen, taking lunch to school is NOT cool. It just isn’t. It’s the absolute bane of my life trying to get these girls to take something besides crisps and chocolate bars. Mainly because they’re embarrassed to haul a large, trough-sized lunch box out of their bag at lunchtime.  These little boxes have come to the rescue – so funky and we fill ours with popcorn, fruit, oatcakes, nuts, yoghurt, pasta. Everything. They’re fab quality and I just love ’em.  They also feed my OCD because they all stack inside each other like a little Russian dolly. Whoop!

So.. which one is your favourite item for teen girls? Feeling inspired to stock up on a few bits? Yup. Me too.

Happy Shopping!

Glossybox June 2014

So it’s Mini-Xmas time in my house this week… yip… my Glossybox turned up! I have to say I’ve been SO impressed with the boxes this year.  I cancelled my subscription last year because I was literally receiving 5 samples I could’ve picked up at Debenhams.  BUT this year the boxes have been fab, I’ve received loads of full-size products and if I can’t use the product myself – I’ve stashed it for stocking fillers.

This month GlossyBox are embracing the great British summer. The selected products help you update your summer beauty routine in one easy step. The box was worth over £50 which is brilliant for just £13.25 incl pp!

I’ve filmed the ‘unboxing’ and my initial thoughts on the box too – you can watch it on YouTube by clicking the link below 🙂

First up is the Schwarzkopf got2b Rise ‘n Shine Souffle.  RRP: £ 3.99 – currently on offer at Superdrug for £2.66!

NEW got2b Rise ‘n Shine soufflé gives your hair textured volume and silky shine for a truly glamorous finish.”

My first reaction to this product is that it made my hair go sticky… however I had already got a product on my hair when I tried it which wasn’t very clever so I’ll give this another go when I wash my hair tonight!

Next is the So Susan Concealer Quad – RRP: £ 16.95

“A compact of 4 concealer shades that cover dark shades, blemishes and minor imperfections”

The outer packaging on this product is simply gorgeous. I LOVE it to bits. However the actual product packaging is disappointing and gives quite a high end concealer a really bad look in my opinion 🙁 I’m sorry Susan! The product also didn’t work for me and it didn’t conceal any blemishes on my skin. It was hard to use from the quad palette and hardly anything came out even when rubbed pretty vigourously.

Next out of the box was the teeez Flat Stiff Makeup Brush – RRP: unknown – I can’t find this online – sorry!

Again the packaging is just stunning and I’m really interested in their makeup range after seeing it on their website.  I do wear eyeshadow most days so will definitely be giving this a go as my eyeshadow brush definitely needed replacing!

Next is the Nailgirls Top Coat – RRP: £ 13.50 – I’ve just found it at Not on the High Street for £ 8.10 – whoop!

“A quick drying top coat with a wet look shine. Dries up to 4 coats of colour in under 3 minutes with a glossy finish”

As I mentioned in my video, I try and have my nails done as often as I can with Gel overlays but this will be great for those poor times when I’m whacking polish on my nails myself 🙂

Next out of the magic box was the Fleur de Figuier Shower Cream , Body Lotion & Fragrance Sample – RRP : £ 9.50 (shower cream), £ 13 (body lotion) & £32 (fragrance) available at M&S

“The fresh and indulgent scent of Eau Fraiche Fleur de Figuier radiates light and opulence. A melting formula, infused with fig pulp, the main active ingredient is extracted from the buds of the plant, known for their softening properties and effect on suppleness”
The smell of this is gorgeous – a light, fruity smell, perfect for invigorating your shower on hot summer days!

As usual the Glossy mag was packed with info & PR write-ups on this month’s featured brands…. I’ve shown you So Susan in this image because I do feel bad that I didn’t like the product when she looks so lovely!

GlossyBox February 2014 Review

Happy Friday! x

*disclaimer: this is NOT a sponsored post.  All ramblings, opinions and general chit-chat are my own and I pay for this subscription in full. I just like to share with you what’s in my mystery box each month!*

GlossyBox Review: February 2014 – Valentine’s Edition

Eeekk! It’s like a mini Christmas every month when my GlossyBox turns up at my front door.  What’s not to love about even just the design of this month’s box!
*insert high-pitched squeal of excitement here*

As a woman always on a diet, I’ve got to be honest and say the first thing I noticed was the extra Lindt choccie the GlossyBox elves popped into this month’s box. It needs no explantation, just YUM.

Right onto the real stuff. The beauty stuff! I’ve thought about this a lot… I know I have a Love-Hate relationship with GlossyBox (see post HERE on that) but … the reality is… YES. I probably could get 75% of the items in the box at a Debenhams beauty counter by way of a sample.
 But firstly….
I’m a country girl.
Debenhams is pretty FAR away to just pop in and pick up a sample.
Secondly, I’m not one for faffing around beauty counters with 3 kids for hours on end.
The GlossyBox items are selected for me according to my profile and shipped to my door… what more could a girl ask for?
And lastly (because I’m not sure THIRDLY is even a word)
The full size product in the box almost always makes up for the cost of the box. EVERY TIME.
Take this gorgeous Ciate nail polish for example.
My 2 pennies worth: Love Love LOVE this nail polish.  It’s easy to apply, looks great, has a fabulous shine and stays on forever, even with lots of dishwashing and kid-taxi-driving in play.  The photo below was taken 3 days after application – pretty darn good going!

I’ve gotta be honest. If hair products include any form of oil ingredient I STAY AWAY. I have super oily hair and so the shampoo / conditioner just made my hair look exactly the same and the shampoo didn’t lather at all. I ended up jumping back in the shower and re-washing with my trusty Tresemme!
The leave-in conditioner was AMAZING! It didn’t make my hair oily, just super sleek after I’d straightened it and it smells amazing! Think coconuts on the beach. YEAH.
Eldora Eyelashes – Full Size – £ 3.90
Eldora is a professional brand and they boast a wide range so there are styles to suit everyone. I haven’t tried these yet but I hope to try them out on a Moms Night Out soon – watch this space.
pssssttt! They have a fab YouTube channel, with an amazing, easy-to-apply eyelash tutorial! Click HERE to check that out.
Sparkling Body shimmer which smells beautiful. Apply as a body lotion and let it shimmer away.
I did a test patch and this stuff is stunning – will definitely be using this to shimmer my legs in the summertime.

‘New formula which provides full, bold coverage for kissable lips’
This is the product I was the MOST excited about. I do love a nude lip. However… the colour is SO nude that it cannot be seen by the human eye.
See my colour swatch below….
Can you see it? Can you?
Me neither.
I know it’s nude… but seriously, I could just wear a colourless lip balm and have the same effect.
Sorry Maybelline – I love your products ALL the time, but I just don’t get this one.

GlossyBox now comes with it’s own GlossyMag… a quick flick through beauty trends and some of the products included. I particularly enjoyed ‘the story behind Nougat London’ I love a success story me. 🙂
Overall… I loved the February Glossybox – so I’m rating it 4/5 Lovebumps. I only knocked off one point for the Maybelline Lipstick. 🙁

I must be the only person in the Blogging WORLD

….that goes to a blogging conference and then doesn’t blog afterwards. Or Hardly. Or At All.

Like AT ALL. If there was a good time to have a ‘Blogger’s Block’ or whatever you call it… this isn’t it.

I haven’t told you about my dirty child-free weekend away to Cornwall

Or the amazing Polo match on the Beach, which we watched while drinking gallons of wine in the much needed sunshine..

Or the fabulous 60’s party we went to…

Or our amazing week at Butlins!

Or that I met this Penguin and did a Happy Feet Dance – even though I was informed later that he’s not actually from Happy Feet… I’m so 2000 and late.

Or that my sister, mum and I FINALLY learnt how to get a THIN photo of us all…. it’s all about lying on the ground folks!

My 10 year old is now a better Instagrammer than me……..

And clearly a better makeup artist too! She copied this look from someones blog… how cool is this?!

So there you have it, a Super Duper quick catchup. I have lots of lovely bloggy things in the pipeline including giveaways, funny stuff, chatty stuff and general nonsense.

See you TOMORROW. Yes. Tomorrow.

5 Celeb Shmeleb’s with NO Makeup… I’ll show them how it’s done.

I reckon I’m a good contender for this ‘No Makeup Celeb’ thing.

These are the pictures EVERY.WOMAN.LOVES.

Pamela Anderson
Pammy – pfffftttt! Feeling a bit .. RUFF are we Pammy?

Jennifer Lopez
J-Lo – dammmm girrrlll …. I love you.

Khloe Kardashian
Khloe Kardashian – Putting makeup on makes you lose a Stone! ‘Nuff said

Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl – you’re breaking my heart.

Adele – I actually WEEPED when I saw this

Me – I think I’ve totally cracked this.

To be honest, I LOVE that these women look normal with no makeup on…. It makes me feel Celeb-Like. If you’d like me to do a makeup tutorial on this beautiful look I’ve created – let me know in the comments.

My MakeUp Drawer – Before and After

So, a big overhaul of the Makeup Drawer revealed exactly this…….

I have no makeup.

It may surprise most of you that I really do LOVE makeup, because really, I wear very little of it. Mainly due to time constraints and lack of creativity.

I’ve been watching LOADS of Sprinkle of Glitter’s Youtube Vid’s – seriously this girl knows her sh*t , AND she totally cracks me up. She talks to nail polish. Yes. She does.   HOW have I not found her sooner? Totally in my world.

Anyhoo… I thought I’d show you THEE makeup drawer, Before & After.

Bit of everything… total mess… Embarrass-a-ramo…

Found a use for my Smelly Draw Paper stuff and my Glossy Boxes!

Is that It??? For Reals??

So I managed to save:

5 Black eyeliners… FIVE?! I don’t even wear eyeliner..
1 Lip Pencil that needs to be sharpened ( Need a sharpener to accomplish this)
3 Makeup sponges which Dave mistook for Cheese.
1 Bronzer – possibly the best item in the drawer
About a gazillion bangles I forgot I even had

This can only mean one thing.
